Welded Bandsaw Blades, Made to Your Saw's Exact Length
A welded bandsaw blade is made from coil stock rather than pulled from a box: the steel is cut to your saw's loop length, butt welded into a continuous band, annealed, ground flush and tensioned. It is the only way to get a blade that fits a saw exactly, which is why every blade Graham Machine Sales sells is welded to order in our Hamilton, Ontario shop and shipped across Canada.
Why a welded blade beats a stock length
- It fits. We weld loops from 4 ft to 42 ft, so a 1960s Wellsaw, a Hyd-Mech S-20 and a twin-column Cosen all get a blade built for them, not the nearest size on a shelf.
- You choose the steel and the length separately. Carbon for the shop saw, M42 bi-metal for daily structural work, M51 for production cutting, carbide for hard alloys, all in the same length.
- Width and tooth pitch are yours to pick. Boxed blades force a compromise; a welded blade lets you match the pitch to the stock you actually cut.
- It is fresh. The blade is welded the day it ships, not after months in a warehouse.
What we weld
All of our blades are German-made Arntz coil stock welded in house:
- CS-1 carbon steel: the economical choice for mild steel, aluminum and light tubing on small and vertical saws. Loops from 5 ft to 25 ft.
- Sprint Plus M42 bi-metal: the general purpose blade for fabrication shops cutting structurals, plate and solids. Loops from 4 ft to 41 ft.
- X-FIT M42: built for interrupted cuts on beams, angle and HSS.
- Sprint Pro M51 and X-PRO M51: production blades for stainless, tool steel and heavy solids.
- Black Line TC carbide tipped: for nickel alloys, titanium and hardened material.
Widths run from 3/4 in (20 mm) to 2-5/8 in (67 mm), with variable pitches from 2/3 to 8/11 TPI depending on width.
How to order a welded bandsaw blade online
- Open the blade line you want and enter the width, tooth pitch and loop length in inches or millimetres. The price appears as you type.
- Add it to the cart with the quantity you need. Most customers order two or three loops at a time so a spare is always on the shelf.
- We weld and ship within 1 to 2 business days. Standard shipping in Canada starts at $24.90; pickup in Hamilton is free.

Finding your loop length
Check the plate on the saw or the manual, measure an old blade, or look your saw up on our blades by machine page, which lists the factory length and width for more than 100 models from Hyd-Mech, HEM, DoAll, Marvel, Wellsaw, Ellis, JET and Cosen. If none of those work, send us the make and model and we will find it.
What a good weld looks like
Every loop is butt welded, annealed so the joint is not brittle, ground flush on both faces and checked for straightness before it is coiled. A properly finished weld passes through the guides and over the wheels like parent metal; if a blade ever fails at the weld we replace it. Read more about the process on our blade welding service page.
What a welded blade costs
Blades are priced by the foot, so a longer loop costs more and a wider, harder blade costs more per foot. As a guide, a 12 ft CS-1 carbon loop is under $50, a 12 ft Sprint Plus M42 loop is in the $70 to $85 range, and carbide runs a few times that. The configurator on each product page shows your exact price before you add anything to the cart.
Who we weld for
Structural steel fabricators, machine shops, steel service centres, heavy equipment repair shops and trade schools across Ontario, Quebec and the rest of Canada, plus US customers who cannot get odd lengths locally. Graham Machine Sales has welded blades in Hamilton since 1989 and also sells and services the saws they run on.
Frequently asked questions
Can you weld a blade for an old or obscure saw?
Yes. Because we weld from coil, the age and brand of the saw do not matter. Any loop length between 4 ft and 42 ft in any width we stock.
How accurate does my length need to be?
Within about 1/4 in is fine on most saws; the tensioner takes up the rest. If you are unsure, give us the machine model instead and we will use the factory length.
Carbon or bi-metal?
Carbon (CS-1) is the right call for occasional cutting of mild steel and aluminum on a small saw. Bi-metal (M42 or M51) lasts many times longer on structural steel and pays for itself quickly in a busy shop. Our guide on carbon versus bi-metal blades goes into the detail.
Do you weld blades the same day?
Usually. Most orders weld and ship within 1 to 2 business days, and same-day welding for pickup in Hamilton is often possible if you call in the morning.
Can you re-weld a snapped blade?
We can, but on carbon and bi-metal blades a fresh weld costs close to a new blade and the steel near the break is often fatigued. For carbide blades a repair is more often worth it. We will tell you which makes sense.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. US shipping is quoted at checkout and most orders arrive within a week.
