German Engineered M42 Bi-Metal

ARNTZX-FIT

Structural steel & general fabrication blade

The Arntz X-FIT is a robust M42 bi-metal bandsaw blade purpose-built for structural fabrication shops and steel service centres. Its proprietary tooth geometry delivers exceptional shock resistance during interrupted cuts — the kind you encounter daily when sawing I-beams, H-beams, angle iron, channel, structural tubing, and bundled materials. Variable tooth pitch eliminates vibration and produces a smooth, burr-free surface finish.

Why Fabricators Choose the X-FIT

Shock-Resistant Tooth

Robust tooth geometry absorbs the intense impact of interrupted cuts through beams, channels, and bundled materials without chipping.

Vibration Dampening

Modified gullet design and variable tooth pitch disrupt harmonic resonance. Less vibration means longer blade life and cleaner cuts.

M42 HSS Edge

Cobalt-alloyed M42 high-speed steel tooth tips resist extreme cutting temperatures and maintain hardness far beyond carbon steel.

Smooth Finish

Progressive tooth alignment produces an exceptionally smooth workpiece surface with minimal burr — reducing secondary finishing operations.

Built for Structural & General Fabrication

Application Tier

The X-FIT excels with common structural steel qualities up to 1400 N/mm² (St 37/42, St 52/60) and non-ferrous structurals. Whether you're cutting single pieces or running production bundles, the variable tooth pitch adapts to a wide range of cross-sections and wall thicknesses.

Frequently Asked Questions

The X-FIT is engineered for structural steel up to 1,400 N/mm² (grades St 37/42 and St 52/60). It handles I-beams, H-beams, angle iron, U-channel, square and round structural tubing, bundled materials, solid rounds and flats, and non-ferrous metals like aluminium. The variable tooth pitch adapts to different cross-sections and wall thicknesses within a single cut.
A bi-metal blade combines two metals: a flexible spring steel backing band with M42 high-speed steel tooth tips. This gives you the best of both worlds — the backing flexes around the saw wheels without cracking, while the cobalt-alloyed M42 tips resist extreme heat and stay sharp far longer than carbon steel teeth. The result is significantly longer blade life and cleaner cuts, especially in hard structural steels.
Yes. Every Arntz X-FIT blade we sell is custom loop-welded in-house at our Hamilton, Ontario facility to your machine's exact loop length. We do not sell stock lengths — each blade is made to order. Just enter your machine's loop length in inches or millimetres in the configurator above, and we'll weld it to spec.
The X-FIT is available in seven width/thickness combinations: 20×0.90mm (¾"×.035"), 27×0.90mm (1"×.035"), 34×1.10mm (1¼"×.042"), 41×1.30mm (1½"×.050"), 54×1.30mm (2"×.050"), 54×1.60mm (2"×.063"), and 67×1.60mm (2⅝"×.063"). Tooth pitch options range from 2/3 to 8/11 TPI depending on the width — narrower blades support finer pitches for smaller cross-sections, while wider blades use coarser pitches for heavy structural cutting.
Tooth pitch depends on the cross-section you're cutting. As a general rule: use a coarser pitch (2/3 or 3/4 TPI) for large, solid sections and heavy structural beams, and a finer pitch (5/7 or 8/11 TPI) for thinner walls, tubing, and smaller profiles. You want at least 3 teeth engaged in the material at all times. If you're not sure, call us at 1-800-957-2690 — we'll recommend the best pitch for your specific machine and material.
The X-FIT uses a proprietary shock-resistant tooth geometry with a 5°–7° rake angle specifically engineered for the interrupted cuts you get with structural shapes. Its modified gullet design and progressive tooth alignment dampen vibration, which extends blade life and produces a smooth, burr-free surface. Most general-purpose bi-metal blades aren't optimized for the impact loading that beams, channels, and bundled materials create — the X-FIT is purpose-built for exactly that.
Most custom-welded blades ship within 1–2 business days from our Hamilton facility. We keep Arntz blade coil stock on hand in all standard widths, so turnaround is fast. For urgent production needs, call us directly and we'll do our best to accommodate same-day welding.
Yes. Graham Machine Sales & Service provides full band saw machine service, maintenance, and repair across Ontario. Whether you need a blade guide alignment, wheel replacement, hydraulic repair, or a complete machine overhaul, our technicians handle it. We also sell new and used industrial band saw machines. A well-maintained machine is just as important as a quality blade for good cut results.
Absolutely. Call us at 1-800-957-2690 or use the contact form on our site. Tell us your machine make/model, the materials you're cutting (type, grade, and cross-section), and your production volume. We'll recommend the optimal blade width, tooth pitch, and feed/speed settings. With over 230 years of Arntz engineering behind these blades and our hands-on Hamilton experience, we'll get you cutting efficiently.
Yes. While we're based in Hamilton and the majority of our customers are in Ontario (GTA, Niagara, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Windsor, Ottawa), we ship custom-welded bandsaw blades across Canada. Contact us for shipping details and lead times to your location.
