What TPI should I run for structural steel profiles?
Variable pitch matched to wall thickness. As a rule keep at least three teeth in the material at all times: 5/7 or 8/11 TPI for thin wall tube and angle, 3/4 TPI for heavy flanges and thick wall HSS. Send us your typical sections and we will spec it exactly.
Why do my blades keep losing teeth on tube and angle?
Almost always pitch that is too coarse for the wall thickness. With too few teeth engaged, each tooth takes a shock load at entry and exit and eventually breaks out. A finer variable pitch spreads the load and the problem disappears.
